Terror in Egypt

More than 25 people are believed dead in Egypt from a terrorist attack. In a way, events like this make me reconsider my commitment to missions. Is it really fair to put my family through the worry? Of course, terrorists can strike anywhere – a decade ago, domestic terrorists attacked my hometown. But if I go to any Arabic speaking, Middle Eastern, or SE Asian country, I will be at increased risk.

It doesn’t really bother me on a personal level, for me, “to live is Christ and to die is gain.” I just wonder if it’s fair to my family, especially my mom. I can imagine her worry if something like this happened while I was in that country, and I can imagine her terror if I couldn’t get word to her immediately.

But in the end, my commitment is firm. The nations await the good news of Jesus Christ, and the Lamb of God awaits their worship.
